Wedding Photographer Montreal: Lauren & Joseph

Congratulations to Lauren & Joseph!

Is it time to start thinking about venues to book for your wedding? I absolutely love the venue, that Lauren & Joseph have chosen for their wedding. It is in the heart of the old port, one block from my studio, Gare Viger. It has an industrial vibe with chandeliers to soften the look. We have photographed a few weddings there and every time, it feels a little different. I like to allocate 1.5-2 hours for couple portraits, which include the first look and portraits. I then like to divide up the day to include the bridal party, then the family photos, then a rest period for the couple, where it’s hair/makeup/eating break for them before the next big leg of the day, ketubeh, ceremony, then party. Your day should feel like it ran smooth and felt organized. I will help you feel calm and work out any kinks before your big day to ensure every aspect is covered.

Have you started thinking about your bouquet and flowers for the wedding? Might I suggest, Paul from @fleursdesjardinsbypaul . I have worked with Paul for many, many years. Paul is an artist, he cares about his clients, he cares about his work and the flowers are simply stunning every single time. He takes my breathe away. I am in love with the bouquet that Lauren had for her wedding and the decor was simply perfect.

Did you know that cloudy days are sometimes the best for how our skin looks on camera?  It’s that soft, even light that we are all swooning over that photographers dream to shoot in. We had plenty of this type of light all day to work with. Soft, dewy light and makeup on our bride Lauren.

There are always so many elements we must get for your wedding day, posed, family, couple, bridal party, and candid. I feel it is my job to ensure we make everyone happy in the family to ensure we get the best of all worlds. You don’t want to look back one day and feel like…oops, we didn’t get that particular family combination. My best advice to you, when it comes to family photos is to have each side of your family create the family list from largest group to smallest, let it be their project for the wedding. Keep the responsibility away from the couple, of course, we want to make sure the list fits within the scheduled time slot for family photos, but let’s do it! You won’t regret it, once you see the photos.

The day before Lauren’s and Joseph’s wedding, I had scouted the area and found a few great spots that I had not used before. For example, under the bridge we found really gorgeous architecture along with pockets of a green vine wall. I also strongly encourage our brides to ensure they have a hair and makeup re-touch just before the walk down the aisle. It’s a big day, humidity has it’s way with our skin and hair.
Lauren is a stunner, her eyes were popping emerald green on her wedding day. Gorgeous!

So what if it rains? Smile and have a care free attitude about it! They sure did. They were in great spirits. It’s sooo very important to have a rain or shine plan on the day of your wedding.

xoxo
